Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actress. In the last decade she has been working in film and TV. The actress has won numerous awards including the 16 NAACP Image Awards. Bassett was born to her aunt in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Born and raised within New York New York. When Bassett was around five the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida to stay with their mother who had divorced from their father. Bassett chose to become an actress after seeing the play Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. After graduating from Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980 with the Bachelor's degree of African American Studies, she went on to earn the Master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a actress who was a friend of hers. They got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a Master's Degree in African American studies, in the year 1980.
